The Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of Cape Coast, Hon. George Justice Arthur, on Tuesday delivered his first Sessional Address at the 1st Ordinary Meeting of the 2nd Session of the 9th Assembly of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly.
In his address, Hon. George Justice Arthur outlined key achievements and ongoing efforts across critical sectors within the Metropolis. He reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to enhancing education through school renovations, the provision of essential learning materials, and support for students preparing for examinations.
On infrastructure, the MCE announced that several road construction projects are set to commence, with special focus on drainage systems and the improvement of inner-city roads to ease mobility and reduce flooding.
The address also highlighted progress in public health, particularly ongoing sanitation campaigns and plans to upgrade local healthcare facilities, with emphasis on enhancing services at the Cape Coast Metropolitan Hospital.
In matters of security, Hon. Arthur commended the efforts of law enforcement agencies in maintaining peace and order in the city. He pledged continued collaboration with these agencies, particularly in tackling ghetto-related issues, ensuring public safety, and enforcing responsible conduct among Pragyia riders through pragmatic regulations.
He concluded by emphasizing youth empowerment, community engagement, and the need for united action among Assembly Members and residents to drive sustainable development and improve the quality of life in Cape Coast.
