On Monday, 30th March, 2026, the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) engaged the public through an insightful appearance on the morning show of Moulders FM 92.9 MHz Monitored by Oguaanews, as part of its ongoing efforts to deepen consumer awareness and promote accountability within the utilities sector.
The PURC delegation, led by the Regional Manager, Francis Baidoo, used the platform to educate listeners on the core functions of the Commission, emphasizing its mandate to regulate and oversee the provision of electricity and water services across the country.
Key issues discussed included the conditions under which a customer may be disconnected from utility services, clearly outlining the grounds for disconnection or termination. The team also provided detailed guidance on how customers can lodge complaints, explaining the step-by-step complaint procedure, the various categories of complaints, and the processes involved in acquiring new service connections.
The programme featured an interactive phone-in segment, allowing listeners to share their experiences and seek clarification on concerns relating to utility service delivery. The PURC team responded comprehensively to all questions, offering practical solutions and reaffirming their commitment to protecting consumer rights.
In concluding the session, the Commission encouraged all customers experiencing challenges with utility services to formally report their issues at the PURC office located at Tantri in Cape Coast, assuring the public of prompt attention and resolution.
The engagement forms part of PURC’s broader strategy to strengthen public confidence, enhance service delivery, and ensure fairness and transparency in the utilities sector.
