The Mayor of Cape Coast, Hon. George Justice Arthur, on Sunday joined the chiefs, elders, and people of Akotokyir to officially launch the 2025 edition of the Ahobaa Festival.
The colourful ceremony highlighted the rich cultural heritage of the Akotokyir community and drew residents, dignitaries, and guests from across the municipality.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Arthur praised the community for its commitment to preserving tradition and emphasized the importance of festivals in promoting unity and local development. He announced that the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly would provide the community with a decent place of convenience to enhance sanitation and public health.
He further advised parents to ensure children of school-going age get adequate rest and stay focused on their education. The Mayor underscored the role of discipline and learning in building a better future for the youth.
Hon. Arthur also assured the people of Akotokyir of their fair share in the development agenda of the metropolis.
The event featured traditional drumming, dancing, libation pouring, and a vibrant display of culture, marking a strong start to the festival season.
