The Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) commenced today, and during visits to various examination centers, the Mayor of Cape Coast, Hon. George Justice Arthur, was made aware of concerns raised by candidates with special needs.
Specifically, visually impaired candidates expressed challenges with the outdated braille system being used, which hinders their ability to effectively demonstrate their knowledge and skills.
Recognizing the importance of inclusivity and equal opportunities, Hon. Arthur has pledged to collaborate with key stakeholders, including the Ghana Education Service and the Ministry of Education, to explore the introduction of modern technology that will facilitate a more accessible and inclusive examination process for candidates with special needs.
This initiative aims to ensure that all students, regardless of their abilities, have an equal chance to succeed in their exams and reach their full potential.
