As part of efforts to improve academic performance and adequately prepare students for the upcoming Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), the Member of Parliament for Essikado-Ketan Constituency, Prof. Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah, organized a comprehensive three-day orientation program for all final-year JHS students in the constituency.
The highly impactful event was held from May 26th to May 28th, 2025, across four major zones: Essikado, Ketan, Kansawrodo, and Kojokrom. The first day, hosted at the Dr. Grace Mall, brought together about 400 students from the Essikado zones. Day two featured parallel sessions at the Ketan and Kansawrodo zones, with each location recording not less than 300 students. The final day wrapped up at the Kojokrom zone with over 200 students in attendance.
The program, spearheaded by the MP but delivered by her representative, sought to adequately equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in their BECE. Present at all sessions were WAEC examiners, GES officials, Assembly Members, teachers, and other key educational stakeholders.
WAEC subject examiners took turns guiding students through techniques on how to effectively answer questions in each subject area. They presented sample questions, led practical sessions, and engaged students in discussions to ensure full understanding and confidence as they approach their final examinations.
Speaking on behalf of the MP, her representative emphasized Prof. Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah’s deep commitment to education and her desire to see every student in the constituency succeed. The MP, through her representative, assured students of her continued support and announced a special scholarship package for the best 10 performing students from each of the 12 zones within the constituency.
The representative also highlighted other initiatives by the MP, including the upcoming launch of the MP’s Zonal Schools Quiz and Debate Competition, aimed at promoting academic excellence, critical thinking, and public speaking skills among students.
Teachers were not left out. The MP’s representative encouraged them to continue giving their best to their calling and revealed plans for the introduction of a Constituency Teacher’s Award Scheme, designed to appreciate and motivate hardworking educators.
The three-day program was hailed by all as a major success. Students left feeling inspired, better informed, and motivated to approach their BECE with renewed confidence. Many expressed gratitude for the opportunity to interact with experienced examiners and gain insight into examination techniques.
In her closing remarks delivered through her representative, Prof. Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah wished all candidates the very best in their exams. She encouraged them to make their parents proud, honor their schools, and elevate the academic image of the Essikado-Ketan Constituency.
This initiative, yet another demonstration of the MP’s visionary leadership, reflects her firm belief in education as the bedrock of a prosperous society and her resolve to empower the next generation of leaders.
