Renowned broadcast journalist and host on Onua TV, Captain Smart, has lauded the Mayor of Cape Coast, Hon. George Justice Arthur, for introducing an 8-Year Development Plan for the Cape Coast Metropolis, describing it as a bold and unprecedented step in Ghana’s local governance.
Speaking at the launch of Moulders FM 92.9 MHz at Moree in the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese District on Saturday, 10th January, 2026, Captain Smart noted that, to the best of his research and knowledge, no Metropolitan, Municipal or District Chief Executive (MMDCE) in Ghana has ever produced such a comprehensive long-term development document since the inception of the Fourth Republic.
He emphasized that the development plan, if effectively implemented, has the potential to transform Cape Coast, the City of Firsts, into a model metropolis in Ghana, providing a clear roadmap for infrastructure growth, economic development, social progress and urban transformation.
Captain Smart commended Hon. George Justice Arthur for demonstrating visionary leadership, strategic planning and commitment to sustainable development, adding that such forward-thinking governance is what is needed to reposition Ghana’s cities for future growth.
The remarks were met with applause from stakeholders and dignitaries present at the colourful launch of Moulders FM, further underscoring the growing national recognition of Cape Coast’s development agenda under Mayor George Justice Arthur’s leadership.
